Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 3rd grade students come to school everyday full of enthusiasm to learn. Our school is a STEAM academy elementary school. It is located in a low income neighborhood and students come to us from all over. Our school gives our inquisitive students a chance to be creative, engineer, work with technology and excel in learning!
My students LOVE to read but not all students have access to books at home.
They love borrowing books from my classroom library but it is in desperate need of an update! I love to watch them get lost in their books, imagine a life outside of our classroom, make connections to characters, and use the stories they read to learn important life lessons.
My Project
These books were specifically chosen to bring more variety to our classroom library. Every book that is placed in our library is treated with love and care. The students treat their books with love and care and they are very thankful for the opportunity to borrow books. We have a saying in our room: "Books are gifts that we get to open again and again!"
My students especially love reading series books and getting involved in the characters and their lives.
Many of the books on this list will complete some of the series I already have available in my classroom. The students will be so excited to be able to go on another adventure with their favorite characters! Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
