Help me give my students a reading nook to motivate and encourage reading!
This project expired on June 14, 2019.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
“Once you learn to read, you will be forever free.” -Fredrick Douglas- This is a quote our first graders live by!
The first graders at our school are full of personality and each one different from the next.
We are a part of a Title 1 school, meaning the students here are from low-income families, some are homeless, and some have even lost homes, schools, and family to Hurricane Harvey. However, all the adversities of growing up with less does not mean that their education should be. These students deserve the same opportunities as any other child and can turn their hard lives around with a better education.
The reading canopies requested will be used to motivate our early readers to find joy in reading. Students will be able to use these practice reading aloud, partner read, and read independently. They will have a space that is fun, safe, and comfortable to learn enjoyably and build on their reading skills.
We belong to a wonderful school, but we don't always have the funds to purchase items that will foster the many different types of needs each student has.
Your donations would not only help our students become better readers, but would make it a fun and enjoyable experience that would help set the tone for the rest of their education. Having someone to believe in them and provide them with the tools they need to have a more successful future is life changing!
