My students need magazines and a listening center that we can use during classroom instruction. When we are finished with the magazines, we will send them home to encourage families to read with their child.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences in a safe, loving environment. Through relationships with adults, play, and planned and spontaneous instruction, my students will grow in many aspects of development. My students will progress in social skills and emotional well-being, along with language and literacy learning, and concept development
My Project
The items I have requested are Lets FInd Out (weekly) and Science Spin (monthly) magazines for each student. With these magazines, I will have a small group activity and then the students will be able to take it home and share with their families. In addition to the magazine, Scholastic provides us with a link to watch short videos that I will use in large group activities to provide a visual for my students. The magazines will build content knowledge, vocabulary, and early reading skills. To further promote listening and reading skills, I have requested a listening center so I can create an area students will be eager to go for listening to stories with their school family.
