My students need new books in the classroom to expose them to different genre. They are working hard to become fluent readers and these new books would help motivate my students to want to read more!

My Students
Many of my students do not have computers, laptops, wireless devices or wifi in their homes. Our school provides a computer lab in which we visit twice a week. Although our students are allowed to bring wireless devices to our classroom, very few actually own them to bring. Our classroom contains a few computers most of which do not work consistently or properly. My students love to listen to Tumblebooks and take AR tests but are usually backed up waiting because of the lack of technology. My students love to read and are learning how to become fluent readers. I would like to expose them to a variety of genre. My students are interested in reading and given the chance to have more exposure in the classroom, they would be able to gain access more often and have the opportunity read, explore, learn, and increase their academic ability.
My Project
My students will gain access to multiple different genres if given access to new books. My first graders are excited about reading and love to try out new books. They love to sit on my rug and listen to me read to them daily. They are just learning to read and love listening to new books. These new books will give each of my students a chance to read a different book during silent reading time provided at my school. My students will be given the opportunity to practice their sight words through reading the new leveled sight word books. This will motivate my students to read more making them into fluent readers.
