My students need nonfiction books to help them research famous people in history. These resources will be shared with the entire fifth grade team.

My Students

I have moved from a kindergarten classroom to a fifth grade ELA classroom. There are 50 fifth grade students utilizing the books in my classroom. I come from using a variety of picture books to now using a variety of novels. Through yard sales, I have picked up some great resources. However, I do not have a lot of duplicates to create independent reader bins in my classroom.

Reading gives us some place to go when we need to escape the hardships of the world we live in.

I want to give my students that great escape! Please help me in my journey!

My Project

The nonfiction books that I selected for my project are all popular with fifth grade students. They are biographies that will interest them and hopefully excite them to dive into reading a nonfiction book independently. My students will utilize these books while completing our school's new accelerated reader program. It will give them the opportunity to choose new and exciting books on their own guided reading level.

My students will also use these books during guided reading, centers, book reports, and independent reading throughout each day.
