My kindergarten students are eager to learn. They love listening to great stories, and they really love rereading favorite stories over and over. One copy of a book is never enough! I need multiple copies of favorite texts to get the books into their hands and get these kids reading.
My students are amazing, as are their families and our school staff.
I have a diverse classroom of kindergarten students who are excited to learn every day. My classroom is its own melting pot, mixing diverse abilities and cultures. No matter what a child's background is, my goal is to help all of my students achieve to their highest potential and be successful now and in the future. Reading is a skill that these students will use for the rest of their lives. Through meaningful discussions students practice reading, problem solving, turn taking, being respectful, and more!
My Project
During reader's workshop, I read aloud an engaging picture book and we discuss the book as a class. Once these high-quality texts have been read aloud, the kindergarten students really want to read the books again independently, with a friend, or to their families. Unfortunately, I do not have multiple copies, so sometimes the students wait weeks to get a turn with a coveted book. If students can get to these quality books faster, they will read more and be more engaged readers!
I want to give my students access to these great books, so that they will love reading and want to read all the time.
Adding these books to our classroom will allow the kindergarten students to practice their reading skills and more!
