To Write or Not to Write

My students need a set of fun-filled books that introduce and explain grammar concepts, several writing frames and prompts that address different styles of writing, a graphic organizer chart that they can use to organize their story ideas and an overhead kit with tons of activities the whole class can use at once to help build sentences and paragraphs.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

To write or not to write...that's the question my students ask themselves. I want to give them the tools to write! I teach first grade to 21 students, 14 which are boys. Two of my students have special needs. One has autism. The population is vastly second language learners from a lower socio-economic background. We are Title 1 and a program improvement school.

Everyone has a writer's voice inside of them. My students need materials that help them unlock the power to share thoughts on paper. Materials that help them visualize, organize and effectively convey their message to their readers. They need motivations and fun ways to express themselves on paper.

Having colorful, fun, innovative ways to engage them in writing will spark their interests. Engaging resources they can manipulate and learn from such as charts, books, prompts and overhead activities will increase their desire to write as well as leave them prepared to write and express themselves.

Your participation will help bring back the art of writing by supplying my students with tools that will help them successfully express their thoughts and publish it for the world to enjoy. Empower an author today!
