Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Sometimes the only meals my kids get are the ones they eat at school. The snacks I've ask for will go home with them at the end of the day to help them last till breakfast. In the United States, 1 out of 5 children face hunger every day - I teach the 1. These kids just want to even the playing field... just a little. The games I've ask for... will relive stress and give them play time and down time. The chairs and the colorful rug will provide a time out corner for them to rethink how they could've handled their anger in a more productive way. These kids know a lot about anger, but not so much about play. I've also ask for some organizational material. I've got to help them get organized as they move into high school or they will be left behind. Their parents enrolled them in our charter school hoping to improve their educational chances over public education - so let's work together to give them a fighting chance! An education is and always will be the great equalizer. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
