My Students

My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. They deserve the best educational experiences possible to help them learn, grow, and develop! Each of my students are just as special to me, and I want to give them all of the tools and resources available to encourage their engagement and curiosity in learning. I teach a diverse range of learners and strive to meet all of their needs.

My school is in North Carolina not far from Fort Bragg -- the largest military base in the USA.

We have a high population of military children in our school. A high proportion of the children in my class have parents currently serving in the US military.

Class sets of engaging texts are extremely important to grow as readers, but often the purchase of these materials falls on the teacher. Please help to ensure all of my students have access to quality texts by supporting our space study!

My Project

Our upcoming literacy unit combines two of third graders' favorite things, books and the universe! Students will ask and answer questions using key details from the text, study character traits and motives, analyze text structure, and compare informational texts -- all while learning important information about outer space!

Students will work in whole group and small group settings to complete a literacy unit pairing informational and literary texts about space!

The texts are both engaging and challenging for a wide range of readers. Class sets of The Magic Tree House "Space" and "Midnight on the Moon" will allow my students to interact with both texts and allow for appropriate differentiation of material and delivery.
