Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is located in the inner city and provides free breakfast and lunches for about 900 students. Every year, I never know what type of students I will get in my class. They bring joys, challenges, and excitement. Some of them come in ready, some come in hungry and scared, some have already decided that school is not for them, and for some this might be their second or third school this year.
However, in their own time they all want to learn and they will learn.
I need to make sure that I try to provide the right environment, the tools, and the opportunity for them to do their best.
My Project
This project of buying one standing table and stool is really a test. It is to see if this desk will have an impact on my student that just can't sit still. I am hoping this type of seating will meet the need of my super active students who constantly move around at their seats.
Every year, I have at least one that is always walking around, getting out of the seat, falling out of the chair or I find them standing during class time.
Hopefully, this table will reduce the chance of student's movement around the classroom and therefore the movement will be at their desk instead. I am hoping with the ability to move, to stand or sit at the desk will allow my super active child to reduce time lost in learning and to stay more focused and improve productivity in class.
