Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students experience difficulties, both academically and socially. Their problems relate to their home situations, financial instability, poor parental involvement, and lack of motivation. This transfers negatively to learning. Also, COVID-19 has drastically affected the progress and motivation to learn.

As a teacher in a low-income/high-poverty school district, with close to 100% of our students receiving free or reduced-price lunch and about 20% living in one of the four shelters around our school, I would like my students to experience learning in an enjoyable environment.

I want to provide activities where they will be engaged and thrilled and get the chance to change their negative feelings about learning into positive ones. My students need to believe in themselves. They need to know that they can be creative thinkers and assets to the community even if we are teaching and learning virtually.

My Project

Technology is the big craze nowadays! I want my students to keep up with the times and not feel left behind. So having a document camera and another computer would be another way of stepping up to the plate and keeping up with the technology times.

A document camera is a priority as I am teaching virtually; it will make my task easier and more meaningful and easier as I teach my students in this new virtual setting.

Since I am NOT in a brick and mortar school, it is difficult sharing and displaying certain resources virtually. So the document camera will allow my students to get a realistic view and can participate as I share items. With a large group of students and having to use a lot of technology, this added piece of equipment will be an asset to lighten the load.

So please help my students by donating to get them up-to-date with the technological times they are living in and the new platform of virtual learning. Now my kids can say that they are truly keeping up with the times because of the added resources of a document camera.
