To Research or Not to Research, That is the Question.
My students need 3 Chromebooks to conduct research and a projector to display their research.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The amount of technology my class has access to within the room is limited, and while technology can be a double-edged sword, it is essential that my students learn how to use it to help with their learning and development.
Teaching in a school located in a high poverty district with various languages spoken has it's challenges.
Many of my students may be lacking in certain areas but not one of them lacks in creativity or their drive to succeed. The few times I was able to work with my class in the computer lab for projects, I was blown away by the innovation and wished that I could carry that work into the classroom. When limited to the classroom and basic materials, my students often feel stifled and it shows in what they produce, but when they can access technology, you can see the light in their eyes as they go to the ends of the Internet to find what will make their project stand out. They may be limited outside the school building, but I want them to know that their learning is limitless and that starts with our classroom.
My Project
With these Chromebooks and projector the possibilities are endless. Students will be able to use various Google apps to type up papers, create presentations, and truly collaborate with their peers. Often when research is involved in the classroom, I bring articles and materials into the classroom, and use books available in our class library, but that eliminates the most important step. My students need to be able to use technology to learn and explore on their own. I envision students working in groups to research a topic, book, or author and then presenting that information to their fellow classmates. This activity requires independence, cooperation, exploration, organization, and so many skills that are essential to my students' success.
These Chromebooks will allow my students to learn beyond the four walls of my classroom.
The information they receive will not be limited to only what I show them, and they will now have the opportunity to make their own decisions about what is important and what they want to discuss and share in the classroom.
