This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are from the inner city and our school is like a second home for them. For many, school is a safe haven from the issues they encounter at home or in their neighborhoods.
Unfortunately, this also means that sometimes they do not receive the same resources as students who are in other school communities.
My school is very enthusiastic about providing a safe, loving community to students in order to foster a positive place for learning to happen.
My Project
While students are learning in this new time, there can be some downtime during blending and remote learning, as teachers and schools navigate the new normal. This has lent itself to bringing different experiences to students.
The books will allow students to read outside of the prescribed curriculum about current events and characters that offer representation of the student population.
Students will be able to read the books while teachers are working online or when they are done with their remote work. Since the beginning, all of our classes have been virtual to offset the number of students and teachers who have chosen to work remotely. The laptop stand and desk will help for those working in class when the strain of sitting at the computer all day may be too much.
The TPT gift card will help with blended learning as worksheets have become obsolete and the need for digital activities is greater.
