Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Be an inspiration to a group of children who are determined to read classic children literature books! Currently I am teaching a first grade class at title one school in Nevada. I have a total of 20 students who are ELL and come from low-income homes.
Many of my students did not grow up with exposure to a variety of book genres. Even though we have a library where students can check out a book; students are not allowed to take their school library book home. By doing so, it prevents them from losing a book and not being able to check out books from the library.
For this reason I ask for your help in getting the resources we need to motivate my students to learn to be responsible and organized. I would love to see them be exposed to books they could listen to independently.
We need five cassette players and a selection of books students can choose from, will help boost their confidence in learning higher vocabulary words. I believe my students would really benefit from having a place to store the reading materials away and learn how to be responsible in taking care of the equipment. Having a leveled library mobile storage for my students to access will give us a place to organize books that they are allowed to check out and take home. Also having a checkout pocket chart will make things run smoother to keep track of all the leveled books.
