This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are a group of inner city school children with a great desire to learn. They enjoy using different tools to learn, such as manipulatives that they make themselves or teacher created.
My school model is based on inquiry learning which is not just about asking questions, it's about being creative with exciting lessons using a variety of instructional tools.
So to be creative I make a lot of my instructional materials.
Students work hard using these materials to help them learn complex ideas. They also work hard creating projects to convey their learning in innovative ways to others.
My Project
We are in need of a laminator for our classroom. The purpose of this project is so we can make supplementary materials for students that can withstand more than what can on a standard piece of paper. With the use of my own in-class laminator, we can make durable materials for my classroom quickly and effectively.
I'd like my students and I to be able to create multi-use, durable materials that would benefit all students, science class, and materials that we could create for creating materials to prepare for standardized testing.
These products would be used to make learning more engaging and interactive. Students will be able to use laminated materials for years to come.
