My Students

My students come from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds and socioeconomic levels including many students who are learning English as a second language. Some have only just recently immigrated to the United States. In addition, many of my students have had limited or no school experience prior to stepping foot in my kindergarten classroom.

Despite all of the "challenges" listed above, my students arrive at school eager to learn each day.

They come into the classroom with smiles on their faces.

My Project

There has been a movement of late to bring play back into the kindergarten classroom. Children do so much learning through play!

With the market center I have requested, students will have an opportunity to utilize math skills such as sorting, understanding money, patterns, counting, adding and subtracting.

They will practice reading price lists, writing shopping lists, verbally communicating with one another and solving problems. The market will be changed with each theme to become a fruit stand, bakery, ice cream shop, grocery store, or a toy store. Please help my students enjoy their learning through the all-important play.
