Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This project will give our school the tools to start a robotics club. The requested kits include supplies such as motors, LED lights, and open-source hardware to provide a variety of programming opportunities. Using the tools from this project, Micro: Bits, art supplies, and common household items, students not only can learn engineering concepts but also use their design skills to develop a passion.
One of my goals with this project is to attract girls to this field.
Girls tend to have a harder time finding female mentors in STEM occupations. I want to become that mentor to introduce girls to various women in STEM.
This project will allow students to build problem-solving skills, develop creativity, and work through new challenges. Learning how to build and program a robot from scratch can be a complex and difficult process. Many students will struggle with these concepts at first, but with perseverance, they will quickly turn their frustration into creativity and innovation.
By allowing these supplies to go home, parents will have the opportunity to help with guidance, decision-making, prototyping, and troubleshooting. This will help build parent competencies to promote robotics learning at home. Without the knowledge or access to robotics education and supplies, there’s a very slim chance for our students to build interest in these fields. I would love to help my students realize their full potential with the right information and tools!
