Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"To Infinity and Beyond..." This year, Woody and Buzz are the inspiration behind my classroom!
I teach at a high poverty school where more than 95% of our students are on free or reduced lunch.
In my classroom, most of my students start first grade below level. Unfortunately with our resources, we are given books that are on grade level. This makes reading for them very difficult. They are so eager to become better readers but often get discouraged when everything they are given is too difficult. I would like to help them by giving them a real class library that they can utilize towards their goal of becoming on level readers.
My Project
By having these book, my students will be able to read on their own reading level. I can also use these leveled books in my small guided reading group. By allowing students to read books that are a perfect fit for them, they are less likely to get discouraged and will be more excited for reading. My struggling readers often get frustrated and beaten down when they can't find success. They don't realize that they aren't successful because the level of the book is too hard for their ability. By allowing them to read an on level book, they will finally find success!
By donating to my project, you are helping readers become successful not only in first grade but by putting them on the path to a better educational experience.
Please donate and help every child soar to infinity and beyond!
