To Grow or Not to Grow...That is the Question

Help me give my students the opportunity to learn more science by doing. They will learn about hydroponics and how to help the environment. Also, my special needs students will benefit from the flex chairs.

My Students

My students are very special. Since the beginning of this school year, they have impressed me with their desire to learn and grow. They a had a tough year last year with COVID restrictions and hybrid learning. However, they continue to prove they can work through challenges despite uncertainty. THEY HAVE GRIT! Our classroom has a growth mindset environment. They are continuing to learn that education is a journey and making mistakes is a part of it, but WE NEVER GIVE UP! They have also learned how important feedback is and that it helps them to grow. They are becoming experts at receiving feedback. THEY ARE MY HEROES!

My Project

STEM has become extremely important in education. With new science curriculum for 5th grade, the need for a wide range of engaging activities is extremely important. The hydroponics kit will help students learn the art of hydroponics as well as being able to put it into practice. This gives students the ability to understand the environment around them. The Matter Lab gives students the opportunity to work through the scientific method as well as practicing their observation skills and forming hypotheses based on their observations.

The flexible chairs will allow my autistic students more flexible seating and give them a space where they can work on their own in a different spot in the classroom.

It can also be used as an incentive for the group who works the most efficiently to be able to use them during their next group project.
