Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in an impoverished area of South Los Angeles. All of my students come from low-income families. We are a Title I school where ninety-nine percent of our students receive free meals. My students always try their best at everything and anything, despite the challenges that they face in their daily lives.

They are already not expected to have it as easy as others, but we learn that with hard work and consistency, they can be "unique" or different from the rest.

My students are so eager to learn that it makes coming to work easy!

My Project

With the coronavirus pandemic, we have a new normal. My students will need to be able to keep their supplies organized and germ free. I would like to ask for pencil boxes and pencil pouches for my kids to hold their individual school supplies. If funded, whether we are in school or remote learning at home, the students will have a safe place to keep their school supplies.

Community containers of supplies are not feasible during this trying time because of cross-contamination.

These boxes will provide a sense of safety for the students, parents, and teachers!

These boxes will also help to teach responsibility as each child will have to take care of their pencil box and supplies. The pencil boxes are small enough to carry around and large enough for crayons, colored pencils, glue sticks, white board marker, highlighter, pencils, lead pencils and scissors.
