This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a small neighborhood community and go to a Title I school. They receive a free breakfast and a free or reduced-price lunch each day. They enjoy coming to school to learn and are quite an inquisitive group.

They are an exceptionally active bunch with a key interest in learning how to code.

I'd like to give them the opportunity to learn these 21st century skills that will prepare them for their future educational endeavors and careers.

My Project

I am requesting an Ozobot starter kit as well as additional Ozobots and sticker codes. The Ozobots will introduce the students to simple coding and, at the same time, teach skills such as deductive reasoning while expanding their imaginations. I plan to have the students work in small groups with the Ozobots and stickers to learn the language of coding. The students will use the sticker codes to make it easier for them as they are starting out with the little robots. These Ozobots will give the students hands-on learning and keep them engaged.

Coding has become a major part of the educational experience.

Some of my students have had exposure to coding online. However many of them still do not understand the concept of coding. But with a little practice I know they will be able to pick it up quickly. It's something that they all can benefit from. Hopefully they will be able to understand it so well that they will be able to create their own codes.
