To Bee or Not To Bee-Bot?

My students need to learn to think creatively, solve problems, work cooperatively and now, to learn how to code. To do this, we'd like 6 Bee-Bots, a charger, and mats.

My Students

To bee or not to Bee-Bot? Yes a play on words, but a phrase that describes our need. Our site has 3 Kindergarten classrooms, each with smart boards and 8 student iPads. We are anxious to continue our technology journey and begin learning to code. To do this, we need tools! Bee-Bots are the key!

Ours is a suburban school located in Canyon Country California.

Currently we have three Kindergarten classrooms with approximately 25 students in each. Although we have a declining enrollment, we are not lacking in enthusiasm and the desire to learn. Our students are bright, intuitive and ready to learn how to code. These 75 highly intelligent Kindergarten students would love to have 6 Bee-Bots, a docking/charging station and Bee-Bot learning mats that will be shared between the three rooms.

My Project

Parents and teachers alike realize that it is almost impossible to stay current in our high tech world without using technology in the classroom. We see Bee-Bots as one way to allow our students to stretch their cognitive wings and soar to a new level of technology. These amazing little "bees" challenge, inspire and motivate while the students learn the 21st century skill of coding. We know that the earlier students are introduced to coding the more comfortable they will be later in life. Developing this skill may lead to a career in technology, at the very least students will see the computer as a valuable tool. We believe that if we are able to receive funding for the Bee-Bots, mats and docking station, we will be able to impact the lives of our Kindergarten students now and in their future.

Your generous donations will enable teachers to introduce coding to some of our youngest learners.

As students learn, work together, problem solve and think outside of the box, they will be inspired to do more with coding. Bee-Bots can and will open the windows of creativity allowing students to more fully explore the endless world of computing. In addition to classroom use, we are hopeful that we can start an after school coding club. We hope you will consider our request.
