My Project
This project aims to introduce my students to one of the most iconic works of literature: William Shakespeare’s Hamlet. By studying this timeless tragedy, they’ll explore universal themes like morality, justice, identity, and the consequences of indecision—concepts that are still deeply relevant to their lives today. Our focus will be on fostering critical thinking, analytical writing, and personal connections to the text, helping students grow not just as learners but as individuals. My students are inquisitive, thoughtful, and eager to engage when they see the relevance of the material to their own lives. Each of them brings a unique perspective to our discussions, creating a dynamic learning environment where every voice matters. What makes them truly special is their resilience and creativity—they thrive when given the opportunity to explore complex ideas in ways that connect to their personal experiences. The specific resources I’m requesting—such as annotated texts, visual aids, and discussion guides—will make Shakespeare's language and themes more accessible. Tools like No Fear Shakespeare: Hamlet will bridge the gap between Elizabethan English and modern understanding, ensuring all students can engage meaningfully with the text. Supplementary materials will also support differentiated instruction, allowing every student, regardless of their learning style or level, to dive deeply into the play’s rich narrative and themes.
Goals:
1. Help students develop a deeper appreciation for classic literature. Equip them with the skills to analyze complex texts and articulate their ideas through writing and discussion.
2. Encourage connections between Shakespeare’s work and their own lives, fostering empathy and personal growth.
3. Through this project, my students will not only master Shakespeare’s Hamlet but also learn to see literature as a lens for understanding the world—and themselves.
