To Annotate Classic Novels Without A.I.

Help me give my students "The Great Gatsby" and "The Count of Monte Cristo" to annotate in class.

My Project

After two decades of teaching, I have realized how much my students enjoy annotating their texts. Unfortunately, the class set of novels owned by the district may not be written in. Students will have access to color pens, sticky notes, and highlighters to annotate; but - I need texts that the students will not be penalized for writing in.

Having tangible texts in hand is more beneficial than I can describe.

Though there are many advantages to online texts, students (especially kinesthetic learners) benefit from not having a screen in their face. The convenience of A.I. has made students less resilient and more dependent on technology to "give them the answers." My goal is to reduce the level of technology use and increase actual brain-power. I want them to know they can become intelligent and enjoy learning instead of finding answers.
