My students need an Apple Mac Book Pro to help them access technology in the classroom. Many of my students do not have the means to utilize a computer in the their home.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
At our wonderful school, our learning community is truly a melting pot. My TK students are comprised of various ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. Our class has both bi-lingual and English only speakers, many of whom are just being introduced to the English language. Many of our students in TK come from families with little or no education past a primary level. So far, all families, regardless of the educational background, are completely supportive, and truly want what is best for the academic advancement of their children.
In our TK classroom, our TK four year old students are full of energy to say the least.
Their attention span is certainly developing, but their enthusiasm for learning is abundant. They are eager learners, and have already impressed me with their ability to develop and grow on an academic level. This is the first year, in many, where their behavior is not a barrier in their learning potential.
My students are amazing, and make every day a joy with their beautiful attitudes and eagerness to learn.
My Project
My TK students will begin the wonderful craft of developing and publishing stories. I have programs that teach them to utilize clip art, and create stories that have beginning, middle, and end. These sequential stories often have just pictures, so that they can learn to transfer visual cues, to a meaningful read aloud.
For students that are advanced, they can include both single words, or even sentences, to include in their story crafting.
This computer will be utilized for a story crafting station, where their work can be saved as they develop the content. This mac will be utilized by all students in our program.
