Our students come from a variety of socioeconomic and ethnicity backgrounds. While predominantly Hispanic, our school is a melting pot of cultures, much like most of California. Our school is unique in that it is an open enrollment school that accepts any and all students residing within the city limits of Los Angeles. We are not a magnet school nor are we entitled to Title I funding. What this means in a nutshell, is that our school receives the least amount of funding per student that a public school in California is entitled to. This had created quite an unfair advantage for our learners. While other schools are amply supplied (even in these financially challenging times), our school struggles to afford basic supplies such as paper and pencils. Our students are eager learners that deserve the same opportunities that other schools are afforded.
