Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Next school year, I am absolutely thrilled to begin teaching Transitional Kindergarten (TK) for the very first time! Having taught kindergarten for the past 6 years, I realize the needs of my new little learners will be different and so will the standards.
One of the most exciting aspects of teaching TK is the opportunity to integrate more play-based learning, especially in science!
In TK, students have greater opportunities to explore scientific concepts through hands-on, playful experiences. This project will allow me to create an engaging opportunity where students can dress up as scientists, observe real specimens under microscopes, conduct simple experiments, and document their discoveries by drawing picture-notes on clipboards. This combination of play and science will not only spark curiosity but also build a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
