This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Let's change the way students learn today by incorporating the latest technology in the classroom. My students are very motivated by technology and are ready to learn, but we don't have enough computers. My students are my inspiration and I believe technology can enrich their education.
I have a dynamic group of students that are eager to learn.
My combination group of kindergarten and transitional kindergarten students have very different needs. All my students demand computer time. Most of my students are second language learners and they come from a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and socioeconomic situations. They are in need of a working computer that doesn't keep breaking down. All of our TK students deserve the opportunity to become technologically literate along with reinforcing number sense and phonics while in school.
My Project
Imagine trying to help teach twenty four students with very different needs. We need a computer that can be used throughout the day to teach literacy and math skills. My TK students need time on the computer to develop mouse and keyboard skills. I know that many of these kids don't have access to a computer at home. During center time they can use the practice resource books that will reinforce their literacy and math skills. The software will make learning fun and interactive.
My students will be engaged and have the best experience in school to succeed in the future. I'm sure that this computer won't get a break from our daily use. A working computer will get my students excited about learning!
Do you remember the excitement from using a new working computer?
Becoming technologically literate is necessary in the 21st century. My transitional kindergarten students need equal access to computer time as they begin to learn their alphabet, numbers and letter sounds. Making learning fun and using a computer will prepare them for success.
