TK Loves Outdoor Play!

My Project

Outdoor play benefits young learners cognitively, socially, and physically. The ever-so-creative and energetic TK students in our program are motivated to find fun wherever they can! I regularly see them making up their own games, exploring nature, conducting experiments, and making art projects out of found sticks and rocks.

I can't understate the value of giving young learners the freedom to self-select activities in an open space.

The items funded by this project will address a variety of developmental needs:

-The building sets will promote open-ended creative play, provide opportunities for collaboration, and support gross motor development.

-The animal toys will foster and expand creative play in the natural environment.

-The stilts and balance/obstacle course will support students' balance, coordination, and strength though play.

Students in our program have two recess periods as well as opportunities to play outdoors during academic blocks. Getting this project funded will provide many rich outdoor learning opportunities for the 45+ TK students in our program.
