This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My transitional kindergarten class consists of the younger kindergarten students.
Our Title I school is located in a low economic area.
One hundred percent of the students qualify for the free federal breakfast and lunch program. Most of my students come from families who do not speak English. My transitional kindergarten students are enthusiastic about learning and always try their best. During this pandemic for many of them is very difficult to follow the activities suggested by me because they lack many of the tools needed to succeed in learning. During my distance learning teaching I always suggest to practice skills on paper on white boards. Unfortunately for many of my families it is not financially possible to provide my students with the basic learning tools.
My Project
This new academic year will be a combination of a face to face instruction and long distance. A white board and a marker will facilitate the practice for new skills. On the white boards students can practice letter formation and numbers. These white boards provide lines on one side and blank space on the other. The blank side will be ideal for students to practice strokes and lines to eventually be able to draw pictures. The hand sanitizer will be used when students return to school. The hand sanitizer will help students stay clean and healthy throughout the day.
