This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My transitional kindergarten class consists of the younger kindergarten students.
Our Title I school is located in a low economic area.
One hundred percent of the students qualify for the free federal breakfast and lunch program. Most of my students come from families who do not speak English. My transitional kindergarten students are enthusiastic about learning and always try their best. I have seen their language, social and academic skills grow every day. They have shown me that they have the potential to exceed all expectations.
My Project
My students need a variety of counting objects. All the collections will provide my students with a rich variety of counting experiences.
Counting collections is a structured opportunity for children to count a collection of objects.
Students might count the items one-by-one or skip-count by groups. Counting provides the foundation for understanding numbers and for computation skills like adding and subtracting.
The paper will be used to make a counting collection record notebook. After children organize and count the collections they will record how they counted in their notebooks. Please help me bring these learning materials to my students.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
