This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is located in south Los Angeles, we are a Title I campus, and most of students are on free lunch. We have a high percentage of English Language learners within each classroom.
Transitional Kindergarten is such a magical year and I absolutely love teaching it!
I am so grateful to teach it again and cannot wait to make some important changes to my classroom for this upcoming year.
I do not know my students yet, but I am looking forward to meeting this next group of 4 year olds. I am excited to watch them explore, make friends, and fall in love with learning.
My Project
Last year, my furniture was "recalled" by the district for being too old. The replacement furniture I was offered was large desks, the same ones used in 5th grade classrooms. I made it work for the year the best I could, but I am excited to get rid of those desks for more community centered, age appropriate tables and chairs.
I decided on four tables with matching red, yellow, blue and green chairs.
I also added some coordinating storage bins to help students learn organization and help make my classroom environment very simple yet visually pleasing.
Thank you for considering donating to this project! I cannot wait to see my new students sitting and learning together.
