My students need crop tops (to go under their cheer uniform) and new pom-poms.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Cheerleading is a display of discipline, practice, dedication, determination, skill and athleticism" -unknown.
My middle school team aren't just pretty faces who stand by and support the "real" athletes, they are the "real" athletes. They word hard and cheer hard.
My district is a Title I school district.
The students are of a low socio-economic status. My cheerleaders are incredibly hard workers. They practice 3-4 times a week for 1.5-2 hours a day. They cheer at games and participate in competitions. Due to state budget cuts, sports are receiving limited funding to purchase items needed for their teams.
I want my team to feel they are just as important as the other teams at the school who have received new items. My cheerleaders are positive role models for their peers. They keep their grades up, they participate in fundraising activities. They encourage the fans to support the teams. My team cheers for both girls and boys basketball (varsity and JV) as well as flag football.
My Project
The resources I'm requesting for my team are accessories that the school, unfortunately, is unable to purchase due to state budget cuts. My cheerleaders will be using the crop top as a part of their uniform. They will use their poms at every game, practice and competition. As with their uniforms, the girls will learn responsibility for taking care of items that don't belong to them, but the school. They will be responsible for caring for the items and returning them when their season is over.
By donating to this project you are showing my team that they are just as special as the other teams at school, that they work just as hard to hone their skills and perform for their peers.
Most importantly you are telling my team that they are an important part of the school sports community and that they do make a difference at games, events and competitions.
