Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

We won first place at our state competition last year and we are ready to do it again! It's all possible thanks to DonorsChoose. We had a great time at the competition and I think it was a great way to build my girls' confidence in themselves and teach them the true meaning of hard work and working as a team. My school is a Title I school with a 99% rate for free and reduced-price lunch. This competition is not possible without the support from others!

I want to give my girls another great season and something to look forward to and work towards this year.

My Project

This competition will give my girls an opportunity to give them the confidence they need to continue their dancing for years to come. I will never forget the memories I had in my years dancing and competing and it all started for me in middle school as well. My coach in middle school did everything she could for her girls, like I am trying to do for my team, and it led me to dance in high school, college and professionally. I want nothing more than for my girls to get to experience the bonds that get formed while competing at a regional dance competition. They come from a high poverty school and would be more thankful than anyone could imagine. This project will help us work for our goal and give the girls lifetime memories.
