Help me give my students the chance to travel abroad virtually and learn about the world around them with their very own passports, travel stickers, and laminated maps of the world and the United States!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students walk into class every day full of wonder, full of energy, and full of resilience. Each day in the classroom is a chance to shine and start fresh no matter what outside distractions may await them at home or in their community. I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything.
I teach at a Title I school in Massachusetts, where 61% percent of our students are considered economically disadvantaged.
A handful of students receive food for the weekend and we have Catie's Closet on hand for students that need clothing. We have students from a variety of backgrounds. We have students that have just arrived in the United States, special education students, students with visual and auditory deficits, and students with trauma. My students are so much more than these descriptions. These amazing kids just want a chance, a glimpse into a future where they are allowed to dream big!
My Project
Ready, set, explore! Help us fund an opportunity for second graders to travel the globe as well as the United States. Each student will receive their own passport, travel stickers, and laminated maps with pointers. This will help to engage our virtual learners and allow them reference points as we travel through Google Earth and Mystery Classrooms throughout the U.S.
Please help me break down the walls of our current world situation, in order to allow students to truly enjoy some immersive experiences virtually that they will hopefully never forget!
