Tiny Learners Learning Big!

My students need wooden blocks, musical instruments, and an art easel to help them explore all of our learning centers in our classroom.

My Students

Your first years in school should be full of exploring and learning about the world around you. For preschoolers, their day is full of hands on activities that show them how things work, learning cause and effect, and learning how to be an independent individual.

My preschool class is made up of three to five year olds and has a high ratio of special education students to general education students.

Our classroom is considered an inclusive classroom, which means I have students with specials needs (ranging from mild to severe), students with a deficit in only certain areas, and model students (students who scored high on verbal and social testing). We learn from each other every day!

I spent the first 13 years of my career teaching this same type of classroom, but at the high school level. I wanted a change and decided that preschool was it. I inherited a preschool classroom with very outdated materials and very little materials. I want my students to have every opportunity in the world to learn and grow! And we need learning materials to do that!

My Project

Having wooden blocks, musical instruments, and an art easel will help my preschoolers explore the world around them. The wooden blocks will help them learn cause and effect, work on fine motor skills, learn patterns... the possibilities are endless. The musical instruments will help students who learn by auditory, help students learn about rhythm, and explore different musical genres. The art easel will allow my students to have more independence in the art center. They will be able to paint when they want to and not have to wait for me to clear a space for them. All of these items will help them explore their world better!
