My students need ballet slippers to properly learn and execute ballet technique. The shoes will be used by Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd and will support many types of dancing in addition to ballet.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This public school strives to promote academic excellence through bilingual and multicultural education. Spanish dominant, English dominant and bilingual speakers develop fluency and literacy skills in both languages.
Through the school's dual language program, students affirm the values of their own cultures while acquiring an understanding, appreciation, and acceptance of other cultures and demonstrating social consciousness in a pluralistic world.
At this school, a caring, cooperative and accepting school climate is fostered to promote the social, affective and cognitive development of the whole child, and in which parents are active partners in the formal schooling of their children.
As the school dance teacher, it is my great privilege to encourage children in their love of movement and the performing arts. The curriculum ranges from classical technique to creative movement to traditional dance that honors the Pan American culture of our school community.
My Project
Earlier this year, I used grant money to purchase a collection of ballet shoes for students in Kindergarten - 2nd. Unfortunately, I do not have sizes to outfit every student with shoes every time they come to class.
With your help, I am hoping to expand the ballet shoe collection so that every time a student K - 2 comes to class, he/she knows he/she will have the proper tools to succeed and not have to take turns dancing in socks while other students have shoes and vice versa.
The shoes will be used beyond ballet in studying international dance and creative movement and can be worn year after year by IAMS students.
