My Students

My band room is a place where students come to enjoy playing and making music. More importantly than that, they get to learn lifelong lessons of teamwork, friendship, and the importance of reaching and obtaining your goals.

A vast majority of our student population receives free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch.

The district is in a mid to high poverty area.

Although my district gives its fair share of funds to music, they just can't provide everything my students need to thrive in the classroom. I am always looking for opportunities to give them the quality materials and instruments they deserve.

My Project

Timpani are one of the most important instruments not only in the percussion section, but the entire band. The timpani help to provide the foundation for notes and chords played in many pieces, as well as rhythmic aspects in other pieces. Capable of playing numerous pitches, they really are versatile in many ways.

Good sounding timpani are only as good as the proper mallets used to play them.

There are different timpani mallets for different styles and articulations in music, so by having a variety of different timpani mallets, we will be able to cover any musical situation that arises.

In addition to the mallets, we also need some drum dampeners to help with controlling resonance for our drum set, snare drum, and concert toms. The sound dampeners will help time give our percussion section and band a more pleasant tone.
