Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
For 23 years, I've dedicated myself in the dynamic realm of middle school students – a world that's as wacky and wonderful as it is unpredictable. Each day is a new adventure, and every grade has its own unique personality and needs. For the past 12 years, I've had the privilege of teaching 7th grade lit comp (language arts) in Georgia. However, a recent cross-country move required me to donate or discard much of my classroom resources.
Now, I am teaching 6th grade social studies and language arts in the beautiful state of Washington.
While I'm utilizing the provided textbook and materials, I'm eager to enhance my curriculum with interactive notebooks and online assignments. Gift cards from TPT would enable me to purchase supplementary materials that infuse STEM elements and incorporates engaging online activities.
I recognize the importance of organization for daily class work, group work, and hands-on projects. Plastic containers would serve as invaluable tools for organizing students' collaborative efforts and the supplies required for interactive learning lessons. Glue sticks and colored pencils are essential for assembling interactive notebooks, while headphones would facilitate participation in sound-enhanced online activities such as Nearpod sessions and virtual field trips. The cardboard screens would primarily be used for online assessments but could also be used to help students who are overstimulated in their groups.
My primary objective with this campaign is twofold: to ignite a passion for learning about ancient civilizations and language arts, while also replenishing the supplies I reluctantly left behind. As 6th grade marks the start of middle school, I am dedicated to sparking a lifelong appreciation for the humanities, laying the groundwork for their academic journey ahead.
