Time Travelers: Strengthening English Skills with Stories from History

My Project

Historical fiction supports my Dual Language students' language acquisition and literacy growth through meaningful, contextualized exposure to academic vocabulary and sentence structures.

Historical fiction also builds essential background knowledge that students may not otherwise encounter.

By reading stories set in various historical periods, such as the Ranger in Time and Girls Survive series, students gain insights into different cultures, events, and perspectives. This foundation helps them better understand nonfiction texts and classroom discussions across content areas.

Thank you in advance for helping to deepen my students' comprehension and expand their knowledge through every new historical fiction novel they read.
