This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My gifted middle schoolers are amazing and curious . . .but sometimes not awake first thing in the morning. They really need hands-on materials to awaken their bodies and brains as they explore some ancient civilizations.

Hands-on materials like clay and cardboard play a crucial role in making learning about ancient civilizations relevant.

These materials are inherently engaging and tactile, capturing students' attention and making the learning experience more enjoyable. When students can physically interact with the subject matter, they are more likely to be actively engaged in the learning process. Additionally, for my gifted students, working with materials like clay and paint encourages creativity and imagination. Students can create their interpretations of ancient artifacts, architecture, or landscapes, fostering a deeper connection to the historical context they are studying.

Finally, hands-on projects involve teamwork, fostering collaboration skills as students work together to achieve a common goal. These projects provide opportunities for students to explain their creations, promoting effective communication of historical concepts and and retention of historical knowledge.
