Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Seventh and eighth grades are pivotal years in students' educational journey. My students are bright and eager to learn. They are funny and talented and don't let their special education needs stop them from always trying. A classroom environment should feel like a second home.
My classroom has remained the same for several years and now it's time for some snazzy changes.
A clean and calm classroom ensures stimulation for students' minds and brains. As of right now, NYC has not allocated Teacher's Choice money and I was hoping to use that money for these supplies.
I would like to update my classroom so it is warm and inviting. The school building is older and hasn't been remodeled. I would like to cover existing bulletin boards with peel-and-stick wallpaper. I have used construction paper in the past and the paper tears and rips, and it also gets faded from the sun. I would also like magnetic photo frames to display student work. Students like seeing their work up, especially when it's framed and looks like artwork. Finally, I would like copy paper to help me quickly make copies and differentiate assignments for my special education students. Teachable moments occur often, and it is essential to always have paper so I can help my students on the spur of the moment.
It has been proven that students learn better when their environment is calm and engaging. One's environment plays a big role in achievement, hence what a better way to create academic success in school.
