This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
These 4th graders have a special bond due to the fact that these students were in the same classes in 2nd and 3rd grade. I noticed that they are there for each other and support each other. Majority of the students entering 4th grade are bilingual. English for many is their second language. With the lack of books in our classroom library, Times For Kids will give the students the tools they need to bring their reading and writing skills to par. Students will have the opportunity to use these magazines in centers and bring home for their nightly reading. The students will not have the stress of not having supplies they need to achieve their goals.
My Project
Time For Kids will give the students the tools they need to help enhance their reading and writing skills. Time For Kids magazines are up to date with current topics. Since our classroom library is limited, students will be allowed to bring these home and do their reading/writing activity without worrying they don’t have a book. Students will also use these magazines during centers. By having the same material students can form reading circles and share their thoughts on the topic. Students can also discuss the questions that go along with the magazines. Time For Kids will allow the kids time to work together to enhance their reading, writing and cooperative skills!
