My students absolutely love when we read stories aloud. To encourage students to love books can be as simple as reading aloud to them. Students are so intrigued by it all; the unfolding of the story, the pictures, and so much more. Each week we focus on a different story for our reading time and use a variety of stories to help build an understanding of the grade level comprehension strategies. Having stories that keep students engaged that also teach the literacy standards at the same time can be hard to come by.
These excellent and high quality read aloud's that I have selected will provide pinnacle levels of engagement while teaching crucial reading standards.
Due to the books being such great quality while also teaching such useful skills, they are hard to come by at the local libraries. Having a copy of them in my classroom will make things so much easier, plus it will allow my students to always have access to them! With these quality books in my classroom I will have great resources to teach from and it will help to establish superior engagement with students to create lifelong readers.
