I have been privileged to spend the last 17 years of my teaching career in a very urban environment, working with children and parents who look nothing like me. I have witnessed first-hand that it makes no difference to children what color you are, as long as you love them. Through my student's eyes, I have witnessed resilience, strength, and tenacity. I give thanks every day that I have the opportunity to learn from them as much as they do from me!
I would love to give my elementary students the full music experience by using an interactive whiteboard to take music to the next level.
As an urban school, we oftentimes lack the technology we need to teach our curriculum the way it's meant to be taught. The current music curriculum is all online and contains many activities that require students to move things around on the screen. These activities include games, composition activities, and assessments. Right now, I can only project my screen onto a whiteboard and click/drag for them......but with an interactive whiteboard, we could do so much more!
I want to see my music students use this interactive whiteboard to enhance the way they see music in the 21st Century. We will be able to create class compositions, see/hear them in real-time, and be able to fully experience our music lessons in a way we never have before!
