I am a music teacher in an elementary school that is located in a very high poverty area. The majority of my students live in the public housing projects located across the street from the school. Due to the nature of their home lives, my students often come to school with issues that affect their demeanor and behavior. Regardless of these challenges, I expect great things from my children and they never disappoint me. I am lucky in that most of them enjoy music and I strive to make my class as hands-on as possible.
