My Students

My students come from a small, rural school. Many of my students are low income, but our school is not Title I. This means that teachers don't get access to many of the supplies other teachers do.

My boys and girls love to learn!

They are enthusiastic when we get new books to read or begin a new unit. Every morning when they come in, they can't wait to learn something new. Their curious nature is so addictive! I just want to teach them as much as I can.

My Project

Do you remember how hard it was to learn how to tell time? It is a very difficult for first graders to learn! How about learning how to read?

Today's technology has made learning how to read and tell time so much more interactive and fun for my students.

For this project, I have chosen several individual CD players so that my lower students can hear examples of fluent reading while reading along. I have also chosen several sets of headphones to plug into our computers to be able to learn while on BookFlix and BrainPopJr. Finally, I have chosen math manipulatives such as write and wipe pockets and pattern blocks activity cards to make learning math hands-on. Students understand better when they can experience math and science. I have also included some storage solutions for books and math manipulatives with the book bins and paper trays so that students have access to books on their level and math manipulatives that meet their learning needs.
