Time to Learn While Playing!

My students need games like HedBanz, Who Is It?, and Guess Who? to help them learn how to ask questions, as well as giving them practice playing and working together.

My Students

My students are amazing! I teach in a school that is multi-cultural to the core! We are a high poverty school, but our belief is that all of our students will reach their full potential with our support.

At our school, we strive to have the community and classroom working together to best serve our students.

Many students are coming to us with very little English language experience. The items in this project are to help build their language skills!!

My Project

Very often first graders are not skilled in the art of asking questions. In addition many students are just learning the English language, and are unsure of the sentence structure.

Games like HedBanz, Guess Who?, and Who Is It?

will be a fun way for my students to practice asking questions, helping them to understand and use questions in a friendly and safe way. During a typical first grade meeting, if a teacher asks if anyone has a question, a student will respond with a statement about something completely unrelated. It is my hope that these games will inspire my students to ask more questions and also learn to stay on topic. This will then help them to understand and use questions appropriately in class meetings and lessons. It will be a fun and engaging way to learn a life skill, then we will transfer the skill to our work in small and whole group activities!
