This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are some of the most caring, funny, and passionate kids that I have ever met. They always come in with a smile on their face, ready to see what the day has to hold. They LOVE getting the opportunity to talk about real-world issues, problems facing the country, and tolerance as a community.

They come from diverse backgrounds and use each other's differences as a way to come together to brainstorm how to do good in this world.

I cannot wait to see everything that they accomplish this year and beyond.

My Project

The Time for Kids magazines will allow for my students to engage in current events that matter to them. Many of my scholars struggle to understand non-fiction articles, because they have not experienced the content before, as a majority of my students never left the state of Texas. These magazines allow kids to learn about the world outside of their own community and develop their own thoughts and ideas about certain issues.

TFK will allow my students to become informed readers that want to make a difference in society.

Once students are engaged in what they are reading, their growth is limitless. These magazines come with academic worksheets and aids that will allow the scholars to fine tune their reading skills. Please consider donating to help my scholars have the opportunity to learn about the world through reading.
