This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Even with all the advancements of textbooks and technology, some students will always benefit from hands-on learning and being able to manipulate items.

I am a first year teacher excited to begin my career in a 5th grade classroom at a Title 1 school in Utah.

I want to provide my students with the very best education possible. I believe that my students will benefit from having these math manipulatives in the classroom to enhance the concepts we focus on throughout the school year.

My Project

There are so many different ways that students learn and I plan to incorporate multiple teaching and learning styles into my curriculum instruction. I have seen how much student's understanding of a subject deepens when there is a hands-on aspect of the lesson. I am requesting materials that will greatly enhance my mathematics instruction including protractors, place value kits, pattern blocks, geometric shapes, and measuring tapes. I am also interested in obtaining a class set of white boards. I believe that these are extremely useful for quickly assessing the whole class throughout a lesson so I can adjust my teaching strategy when necessary. These math manipulatives will be all extremely beneficial in providing opportunities for hands-on learning.

As a new teacher it is extremely challenging to collect all of the resources and materials needed for an effective classroom before your first year.

Your donations will be tremendously helpful in providing my classroom with many materials to further the learning of my students and deepen their understanding of many math concepts.
